The best camera routine is short enough to repeat and strict enough to stop an appearance-based guess.
Start with the claim
Listen to the full line and identify what kind of evidence the visitor is asking you to verify. A claim about a cat, oven, sink, or faucet points to a room-state check. A claim involving a dog or vehicle points to the matching outside camera. A form or height warning points to a normal-versus-night-vision comparison.
Sweep in the same order
- Open the laptop and select the relevant camera.
- Observe the normal feed before changing modes.
- Toggle night vision and compare the same framing.
- Check any second location named by the story.
- Listen for audio interference or a voice change.
- Record whether the reported warning was seen, not seen, or impossible to check.
The “impossible to check” state matters. It is not equivalent to “safe.”
Match the camera to the visitor
The agent, lost girl, and other form-change records depend on night vision. The dog owner depends on the backyard view. The homeless man record depends on whether he appears on camera at all. The dumped girl’s warning is an expression visible in the feed.
Use the visitor field guide or tracker to select the channel before you start clicking through every feed.
Handle audio separately
Camera audio and spoken voice are different evidence channels. Wifi Kid’s reported warning is interference heard through the camera. Classmate, Party Girl, and Gym Bro require the spoken line itself.
If the game audio is unclear, do not let a silent feed produce a confident result. Mark the channel unavailable and repeat the check if the run allows it.
Close the loop at the door
Return to the front door only after the evidence state is recorded. Current guides identify the porch light switch as the reject action when the warning is present. A completed check with no reported warning supports opening for the ordinary interaction.
Unknown and conflicting records need an extra layer of caution. Read Unknown and Conflicting Visitor Tells before treating a missing warning as proof.

Frequently asked questions
Should I toggle night vision for every visitor?
Use it whenever the reported evidence depends on a form, height, posture, or visibility change.
Can I use only the front camera?
No. Some reported tells depend on the backyard, a vehicle view, or a room-state claim.
